South Australia’s Mandatory Alcohol Interlock Scheme applies to drivers who have committed a serious drink-driving offence.
The interlock requirement generally begins after your licence disqualification period has been completed.
Your alcohol interlock must be inspected and serviced at the intervals required under the Mandatory Alcohol Interlock Scheme.
During servicing, the device is checked to ensure it is operating correctly and recorded data is downloaded for monitoring.
Your Adelaide Interlock technician can advise you of your required servicing schedule and when your next appointment is due.
Alcohol interlocks can be installed in most vehicles, although installation requirements can vary depending on the vehicle’s make, model, year and ignition system.
Motorcycles may also be suitable, provided they have a compatible electrical and ignition system. Some motorcycles, including certain kick-start models, may not be suitable for interlock installation.
Our service centre can assess your vehicle before installation and advise you of any specific requirements or additional installation costs.
The Mandatory Alcohol Interlock Scheme is administered by the South Australian Government.
For official information about eligibility, licence conditions, program requirements and your obligations under the scheme, visit SA.GOV.AU or contact Service SA.
Adelaide Interlock can assist with the practical side of the program, including interlock installation, servicing and device-related support. For questions about your licence conditions, disqualification period or legal obligations, please contact Service SA or the relevant South Australian Government authority.
